We invite you to worship God with us by joining us in Singing Praise to our Savior, Hearing God’s Word for Us through our Pastor, and Giving Back to Him to Support the Ministries of Crossroads Church.  This week, ONE VOICE Worship Ensemble will sing a special music offering-

The great English writer, Charles Dickens, found himself in a tough position in 1843.  During this difficult time, Dickens decided to write (original title) A Christmas Carol in Prose: A Ghost Story of Christmas, due to his rough financial situation. Be he soon fell in love with Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, etc., and “wept, laughed, and wept again” while writing it. And, nearly 200 years later and millions of books sold, thousands of stage performances and adaptations, at least 20 different movies (the first was in 1901!), at least 26 different TV versions (Pastor’s fav: The 1984 version starring George C. Scott – check it out!), 20 live radio versions, 11 recorded versions (albums, CD’s), and even four opera versions, this short book continues to impact millions of believers and unbelievers – with its strong Biblical themes of mercy, deliverance, forgiveness, salvation, redemption, and sacrifice. These are the themes we’ll examine this month.

This week:  “Fixing Your Christmas Present”

More than any other time of the year, Christmas means ‘looking back’. Our fond, loving memories of Christmases past are stored away – like our decorations – and unpacked every December. Old songs, Christmas movies, family traditions, special foods, and other Holiday memories from our past swirl around us like a snowstorm. And, there’s nothing wrong with that…but if we place too much emphasis on the past (good or bad) or simply live for the future (because it’s got to be better than this!), then we MISS OUT on not only our Christmas Present – but the NOW we are living in! And, if you’re busy living in the past or waiting anxiously for tomorrow, you’ll never experience all that you can be and all you can have in Christ TODAY! (This is what The Ghost of Christmas Present was trying to teach Scrooge: “Open your eyes and look at your life TODAY!”
Simeon and Anna were two very old, non-related individuals that literally were living their last days. They were not consumed with the past, nor with the future; therefore, God allowed them to see and meet Christ in their PRESENT. Wow!
